Colorado Bend State Park

Our Colorado Bend State Park camping trip had many memorable moments:
-Macie's first camping trip
-Our first backpacking trip together
-Coldest trip we've ever been on
-Windiest trip we've ever been on
-Wettest trip we've ever been on

The trip started pretty normal. It felt great to get back outdoors. We quickly learned it is a lot harder to camp with a hyper puppy than it is to go with just Winnie who is pretty chill about it all. The wind started to kick up pretty badly that night at camp. We knew it was going to rain that night, but we didn't realize how bad the storm would be. There were times the tent actually blew in and touched our faces. Crazy.

Another tough thing about camping with a puppy is when she has to go potty and it is pouring out. Then she's all muddy and wet coming back into the tent. Fun.

All of this would be worth it if we had been able to get up the next morning and go hike out to the Gorman Falls. However, the river was expected to flood later that day due to all the rain the night before and we would have been trapped. Awesome.

All in all, I think the best part of the trip was the drive there and back. We listened to a good book on audio--The Hunger Games. Oh--and I did get a really cute picture of Adam and Macie. (Winnie is also in his sleeping bag somewhere down by his feet)

  1. Does Adam need a bigger sleeping bag? :)
